Tom “Swanny” Swanton was a four-year starter of the college’s football team back in the late 70’s and early 80’s. In 1978, under the direction of Head Coach Frank Marino, Swanton helped lead the team to a 9-1 record, and the National Club Championship. Swanton’s junior and senior campaigns boasted 114 tackles and 20 sacks. Swanton was the defensive captain of the 1981 team, and for his efforts on the field, he earned Defensive Most Valuable Player honors at the conclusion of the season.
Swanton is a 1982 graduate of the college where he earned his degree in environmental studies. He currently resides in Sommerville with his wife Carol, and their two children, Jim and Trevor.
