Hall of Fame
Although Kevin is being inducted for accomplishments off the field, he began his athletic career at Ramapo as a first baseman in 1976 and 1977. At the time he set the mark for Ramapo’s highest batting average in school history. To develop his passion for sports writing he became a writer and co-editor of Horizons, Ramapo’s then student newspaper. Through his involvement, sports reporting grew to major coverage for both men’s and women’s sports.
He has been covering professional sports for 25 years and is currently the baseball columnist for the New York Post. In addition to his daily coverage of the Yankees and Mets he also writes a weekly column for the Post entitled “The Insiders.” Prior to writing for the Post he wrote for the San Diego Union-Tribune for ten years, covering both baseball and football. He has also hosted or appeared on numerous radio and television talk shows. His list of publications includes biographies on Yankees’ Bernie Williams and Roger Clemens, and NBA star Tim Duncan. In addition to writing he enjoys coaching youth sports in his community and visiting schools to discuss the relationship of journalism and sports in contemporary society.
His wife Anne is also a member of the Ramapo class of 1977. They have three children and reside in Pequannock.
