Todd Lowber came to Ramapo as a recruit for the men’s basketball team, but left as a National Champion in the sport of track & field. Lowber, a 6’4 athlete out of Riverside, New Jersey, won the national championship in the high jump in May of 2006, after only joining the track & field team that season. For someone who had not competed in track & field since high school, it quickly became apparent that his athletic abilities and work ethic would take him far. Lowber opened the season at the Lion Invitational, where he collected a 1st place ribbon, a facility and meet record, and a NCAA qualifying mark, clearing 2.14 meters (7’0.25”). Later that season, Lowber went on to win an individual NJAC Championship, clearing 2.10 meters (6’10.75”), earning NJAC 1st Team All-Conference honors. In late May, Lowber made the 800-plus mile journey to Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, host of the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships. It was there that he cleared 2.15 meters (7’.05”), surpassing his 16 competitors, earning the #1 spot in the nation. After graduating from Ramapo in 2006 with a degree in law and society, Lowber went on to play professional football. In 2007, he won the Super Bowl as a rostered member of the New York Giants. Lowber never played a down of organized football prior to his three-year stint in the NFL. He currently is employed with the US Department of State and resides in Maryland.
