Basketball seems to be Bruce Medley’s life. As a high school basketball player he played on two state championship teams and served as a team captain as well. At Ramapo he captained the Roadrunners, scored more than 1000 points and put up more than 500 rebounds. His honors included all-state selections, all division selections, “player of the week” selections, and all tournament selections. He also participated in the state’s North-South All-Star game. He was the first Ramapo College basketball player to try out for a professional team, having been invited to attend the New Jersey Nets tryouts.
As if that wasn’t enough, Bruce went on to a career in recreation, coaching youth sports in Franklin Township. Prior to being selected for his current position, Bruce worked for the offices of Catholic Charities as a counselor in their Paterson, Bridgewater and Edison offices. In 2002 he was named Recreation Coordinator for the township. For the last fourteen years he has been a resident of Somerset.
