Christine (Moore) Gabriel made her mark on the grass fields of Ramapo College as an offensive and defensive field hockey player. In addition to field hockey she also participated in archery and tennis, and was admittedly an awful basketball player. She was a fierce and passionate competitor on the field during games and practices, but off the field she was a soft-spoken gal with a warm and friendly smile.
From 1975 to 1979 Chris was a force for the women’s field hockey team. Recognized as an outstanding player, she was a member of the 1976 and 1978 National teams for field hockey.
As a girl who grew up on the Jersey shore, she fell in love with the mountains. Her fondest memories of Ramapo are the opportunities to travel, the encouragement she got from Coach Collins, chance to play on the national team, and pushing herself to be a better player.
After Ramapo she coached at Cedarcrest College in PA and played some club level field hockey. Currently she is a physical therapy assistant in a rehabilitation department of a nursing home in Melville, NJ. She and her husband reside in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.
