As the course pro for the Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston, WV Barry Evans was uncertain about his ability to attend tonight’s event because this weekend marked the official beginning of the golf season at Berry Hills.
A local resident and a student at Indian Hills high school, for Barry Evans, Ramapo College was the school up the street. Since they had a rather successful golf program, the decision to attend here was even easier.
For Barry Evans, college golf was a stepping stone to a professional career. At Ramapo Barry was a member of the 1982 NCAA National Championship team. He was second in the NCAA nationals, tied with another former Roadrunner golfer and Hall of Fame inductee Tommy Dee. After Ramapo his success on the golf course continued. He won the National PGA Club Professionals Championship in 2003 and played in 12 PGA tour events last year.
Presently Barry and his wife and two children live in Charleston WV.
