For her many years of dedicated service to the Ramapo College Department of Athletics, Intramurals, and Recreation, Kay Collins is being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Over 25 years, Collins dedicated her career to the athletes and students of the College serving as a teacher, mentor, coach, and administrator. In January of 1976, Collins joined the Ramapo staff as the Coordinator of Women’s Athletics. She quickly got her feet wet teaching swimming, tennis, Women and Sport, and Net Games, to name a few. Collins took the regins as head coach of women’s basketball, tennis, and field hockey keeping her plate full in just her first year. Over the next few years she added to her resume teaching additional course such as badminton, volleyball, Implication of Fitness, and Exercise and Relaxation, before taking on the role of Administrative Assistant in PE and Head Women’s Volleyball Coach in 1979. It was in 1982 that Collins began her years of directing the department serving as the assistant from 1982-92, the director from 1992-98, and the associate director from 1998 until she retired in June of 2001. During the 19 year period, she also served as the Senior Women’s Administrator. Collins served on numerous college and national committees, including a stint as the president of the Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the Women’s Division of New Jersey Athletic Conference. In 1995 she received the Honor Award for the NJ Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women.
