Under the direction of Head Coach Jim Barrow, and Assistant Coach Art Chill, the ‘74-’75 ice hockey team earned the Bi-State Intercollegiate Hockey League Championship by shutting out the County College of Morris, 5-0 on the road. That season the team went 23-7-1 overall, collecting 47 points. The Roadrunners earned the championship bid by finishing in second place in league play. It was the second time in just as many years that the Roadrunners made an appearance in post-season play. Led by “the Irish Connection” of Harry Maynes, Dennis O’Keefe, and Tom Moriarity, Ramapo knocked out John Jay, Wagner, and CCM to take the championship trophy. Ramapo College’s founding President, George T. Potter, accompanied the coaches and team leaders to the League’s awards ceremony, where he accepted the team trophy on behalf of the college, concluding a magical season for the Roadrunners.
