Hall of Fame
When Harold Sharp’s name was mentioned as a potential inductee into the Hall of Fame, the nomination was met with enthusiasm and excitement. For seven seasons Hal Sharp’s involvement and influence helped to shape a Roadrunner baseball team that was talented and ready to embrace the competition.
As a young man, Hal was talented enough to find a spot in the St. Louis Cardinal organization for two seasons until he went into the Army. His military service satisfied, Hal returned to the Cardinal organization but ultimately retired that season as a result of a shoulder injury. With the love of baseball still strong in his heart, he took a position as the coach for the baseball team at Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey where he remained for sixteen seasons. Along with the seven seasons at Ramapo, he was also the pitching coach for Dominican College in Rockland.
After more than 30 years of coaching at one level or another, Hal Sharp’s influences have spread to countless young baseball players whose lives he has touched. Hal was also inducted as a member of the Bergen County Hall of Fame in 1975.
