Coach Neil Rosa couldn’t have said it better prior to Ben Arcuri’s 1996-1997 season, “What can I say about Ben Arcuri? Certainly not enough. He’s first team all conference not only on the court but off as well. Ben is the ‘heart and soul’ of Ramapo Basketball exemplifying the true college athlete with a work ethic second to none. A future Ramapo College Hall of Fame Candidate.”
Ben came to Ramapo College and played four years of stellar basketball commencing in 1993. As a freshman he was honored as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year as well as being named to the All-Rookie NJAC team. He played in 25 games and started 12, netting 285 points in his rookie season. He shot an impressive 52% from the field. In his sophomore season he tacked on 387 points shooting 55% from the field and 37% from behind the three-point arc. As a junior he scored 457 points, his collegiate season high, and became one of a few players in Ramapo’s history to reach 1,000 points. His efforts as a junior earned him 1st Team NJAC All-Conference, 1st Team All-State Division III, 2nd Team All-NIT/Metropolitan Writer’s Association, and 2nd Team All-NABC honors. His final season as a Roadrunner brought 2nd Team NJAC All-Conference honors as well as 1st Team All-NIT/Metropolitan Writer’s Association honors. As a senior he netted 424 points, finishing his career with 1,553, which ranks 4th all-time.
Ben is listed on the records chart numerous times including Most Steals in a Season (7th - 75, 1995-1996), Best Field Goal Percentage in a Season (15th - .516 - 1993-1994), Most Blocks in a Season (12th - 23 - 1995-1996), Most Points in a Single Game (5th - 36 - 1996-1997), and Most Rebounds in a Single Game (8th - 15 - 1994-1995).
Ben currently serves as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Sports Information at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) in Old Westbury, NY. He resides in Staten Island with his wife CC, their son Kendall, and their daughter Giana.
