Marco Chung quickly made his mark as one of the best soccer players in the history of the men’s program. To this day, he is the only player to be named, NSCAA Adidas All-American, a national prestigious award.
In just his first season with the team, he recorded eight goals and eight assists, leading his team to a 16-5-1 record, and the first ever post-season championship, winning the ECAC title. He followed with 12 goals and seven assists in his sophomore year, which helped his team to its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. For his efforts on the field in ‘97, Marco was named to the NJAC 2nd Team All-Conference. During his junior season, Marco put away nine goals and contributed eight assists, while his team fell just short of a second ECAC title, with a 2-0 loss to Coast Guard on November 14th of 1998. Marco earned NJAC 1st Team All-Conference honors as well as being named team Most Valuable Player. His best season came during his senior year, when he led his team to a 14-3-2 overall record, with a team leading 17 goals and eight assists. He was named a NSCAA/Umbro All-Mid Atlantic player, only the third to receive this award as a Roadrunner. He earned the national All-American honors that same year while also being named NJAC Player of the Year and Robert Hartman Player of the Year.
In his four years his team posted a combined record of 53-18-5, 21-11-4 in the prestigious New Jersey Athletic Conference. It was the best cumulative record in any 4-year span of the program. Marco currently stands at number two for the most goals scored in the history of the program with 46.
Marco currently works as a spanish teacher at St. Joseph Regional, where he has served as the head varsity soccer coach for the past two years.
