Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The Colonials of Western Connecticut State University outlasted the Ramapo College field hockey team 1-0 today at the Athletic Center Turf Field. The Colonials open the 2019 season 1-0 overall while the Roadrunners stand at 0-1 overall.
 
Morgan Matthews scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 7th minute of action (6:58) of the first quarter, unassisted for the 1-0 lead. The Colonials held a slight 14-13 advantage in shots in the game and a 17-11 lead in penalty corners. Samantha Stolker posted nine saves for the Roadrunners in the cage while Neve Manion tallied six for WestConn while they also collected three defensive saves to keep Ramapo off the board.
 
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow night at 5pm when they host Moravian College (0-1 overall) at the Athletic Center Turf Field.
