Madison, NJ: The FDU-Florham field hockey team scored two late fourth quarter goals to defeat Ramapo College tonight in non-conference action, 2-1. The Roadrunners move to 3-4 overall while the Devils improve to 5-3.
The game was scoreless through three quarters before Ramapo broke through early in the fourth. The Roadrunners recorded back-to-back shots from
Kaylee Free and
Kelly Zeman before earning consecutive penalty corners.
Eliana Momm found the back of the cage in the 47th minute (46:14) to give Ramapo a 1-0 lead. Momm collected her team-leading fifth goal of the season.
FDU-Florham responded with two quick goals to take the lead. Gianna Ercolani tied the game at 52:58 off an assist from Lindsey Pampalone before Emma Dombrowski scored just 52 seconds later, with Janeen Rukab earning the assist, to put the Devils in front, 2-1. The Roadrunners did not go away quietly as they earned five penalty corners over the final three minutes. Momm had a shot saved and
Kayla Gray and
Isabella Casale each had shots blocked. The Roadrunners earned two more penalty corners in the final 10 seconds as Gray put a shot on goal as time expired, but FDU-Florham goalkeeper Adrianna Goodwin made the save to preserve the win.
FDU-Florham held a 19-9 advantage in shots, including 12-5 in shots on goal, while the Devils held a slight 12-9 edge in penalty corners. Ramapo tallied seven of its nine shots and seven of its nine penalty corners in the fourth quarter.
Olivia Wintrode recorded 10 saves in goal for the Roadrunners while Goodwin posted four saves for FDU-Florham.
The Roadrunners return to action on Friday, Oct. 2 when they travel to #23 Rowan University for a 6:00pm NJAC match-up.
