Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team opens the 2016 season this afternoon on the road at non-conference rival Keystone College at 1pm.
The last time the Roadrunners went up against Keystone during the 2014 season Ramapo came away with a 2-0 win.
Gianna Mouskourie and
Christina Bacino each tallied a goal in the victory.
The 2016 squad looks to build on their 2016 spring season. "We had a solid spring season and pre-season and look to continue to grow as a program. We are looking forward to competing says fifth-year head coach
Jane Koeniges.
Senior forward
Nicole Healy returns on offense for the Roadrunners – the leading goal scorer in 2015 – Koeniges will look to Healy for to find the back of the net once again this season. Healy also earned NJAC all-conference for her efforts last season, scoring a team leading six goals. The NJAC Goaltender of the Year from the 2016 season returns in junior captain
Emily Wisneski. She led the team last season in the net with 132 saves as she faced 251 shots. Senior captain
Christina Bacino also returns to help the team on offense. She tallied two goals and one assist last season.
"Bacino is a wonderful senior for the team on and off the field, she has developed into such a complete player. Healy is another one of our senior leaders; her play has developed into an extremely dynamic style. Wisneski strives to better herself along with making her teammates better. I am so proud of the student-athletes these women are. They represent Ramapo College very well."
The Roadrunners are on the road for their first six games of the season and return home on September 27th at 4pm to take on non-conference rival Manhattanville College at the Athletic Center Turf Field.
