Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team defeated NJAC rival William Paterson University, 2-1 today at the Athletic Center Turf Field. The Roadrunners, who won their final two games of the season, move to 5-11 overall and 1-5 in the conference while the Pioneers now stand at 3-14 overall and 0-6 in the league.
The Pioneers got on the board first in the second quarter with a goal from Ali Stoner as she secured her 13th goal of the season in the 17th minute (16:42). The score would hold into the third quarter when the Roadrunners were awarded a penalty stroke in the 39th minute (38:02).
Victoria Chavez tallied her fifth goal of the season as she hit the back of the net to tie the game at one all. Just over ten minutes later in the fourth quarter,
Isabella Casale would score the game-winner off a pass from
Kayla Gray to put the Roadrunners in the lead for good, 2-1. Casale scored her second goal of the season in the 49th minute (48:51). Ramapo goalie
Sam Fried kept the Pioneers off the board with some spectacular saves in the game as she collected eight in the game. The Roadrunners also got a defensive save from
Maddie Kulik while they posted 14 penalty corners in the game. Ramapo held a 16-11 advantage in shots.
