Union, NJ: The Kean University field hockey team defeated Ramapo College in NJAC action, 3-0. The Cougars improve to 8-7 overall and 2-2 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 3-10 overall and 0-4 in the league.
For the second conference game in a row, the Roadrunner defense held their opponents to just one goal scored until late in the fourth quarter. Kean scored their first goal of the game in the first six minutes of the game with 5:18 on the clock. The Cougars were awarded a penalty corner as Jazmyne Frack hit the back of the net off a pass from Lilly Fried. It wasn't until the fourth quarter where Kean scored back-to-back goals to extend their lead to 3-0. Kelseigh Sargent (45:29) and Shannon Conroy (50:13) each scored while Frack earned the assist on both goals.
Kean posted 23 shots and 12 on goal in the game with nine penalty corners. The Roadrunners collected 13 shots with eight being on goal in the game with seven penalty corners. On defense for the Roadrunners,
Maddie Kulik posted two defensive saves while
Emily Getz collected seven saves in goal. For Kean, Daniella Maresca earned the shutout victory by making eight saves in the game.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday when they travel to #22 ranked the College of New Jersey with a NJAC game set for 1:00 PM.
