Box Score Dobbs Ferry, NY: The Ramapo College field hockey team fell in a non-conference game to host Mercy College, 2-3. The Roadrunners fall to 0-10 overall while Mercy now stands at 1-9.
Yolie Nyero and Jaclyn Ballin each scored to give Mercy a 2-0 just 16 minutes into the game.
Deirdre Vira scored Ramapo's first goal off a rebound shot to cut the lead in half, 1-2. In the first half Mercy posted a 13-3 advantage in shots while they held a 8-3 margin in penalty corners.
In the second half, Ballin scored her second goal of the game just ten minutes into the half as she took a pass from Tracy Wandle for the eventual game winning goal.
The Roadrunners made it interesting late in the game as
Nicole Healy was awarded a penalty stroke. Healy hit the back of the cage to cut the Mercy lead to one goal, 2-3. Ramapo could not score in the final minutes of the game as Mercy came away with the 3-2 victory.
Alicia Lyons posted six saves in the game while Kristen Znaniecki posted three saves of her own. In the game, Mercy led 18-5 in shots while they posted a slight 11-8 edge in penalty corners.
Ramapo returns to action when they host NJAC rival William Paterson University on Tuesday, October 15th at 4pm.
