MANIGRASSO LEADS RAMAPO OVER KINGS, 5-4

Owings Mills, MD: The Ramapo College field hockey team edged King's College today, 5-4 at the Black-Eyed Susan Tournament hosted by Stevenson University. The Roadrunners remain undefeated at 3-0 while King's falls to 2-1.

Victoria Ahlers got Ramapo on the board just over seven minutes into the game off a pass from Amanda Barretta. Ten minutes later King's tied the game before Ramapo tallied two goals to take a 3-1 lead into halftime. Katie Bruno picked up her second goal of the season as she was assisted by Jayne Manigrasso before Barretta added the final goal of the half, her sixth of the year.

Barretta game out and scored Ramapo's fourth goal of the game to take a 4-1 lead before King's came back with two straight goals to come within one, 4-3. Manigrasso fired a pass from Barretta off a penalty corner to tally the Roadrunners final goal of the game and her third of the season to take a 5-3 lead. King's made it interesting with a late goal with 1:13 to play but Ramapo held on for the win.

King's combined for 17 shots in the game to Ramapo's ten while King's also held a 15-8 advantage in penalty corners. Ramapo's Rebecca Elliott tallied eight saves, all in the first half while the duo of Manigrasso and Amimee Herbert came up with two big defensive saves in the second half.

Ramapo will return to action Saturday, September 10th in their home opener against DeSales University at 1:00 PM.
