Mahwah, NJ: The Devils of FDU-Florham snapped the Roadrunners five game win streak with a 3-2 win today at the Athletic Center. The Devils improve to 4-2 while the Roadrunners stand at 5-1.
The Devils got on the board with a goal (22:36) by Lanie Andrews off a pass by Lauren Guenther, 1-0 before Ramapo would tie the game just over six minutes later.
Aimee Herbert ripped a shot to tie the game she was assisted by
Victoria Ahlers.
Guenther would score one of her own to take a 2-1 lead, 33:04 into the first half as she was assisted by Rebecca Bruns. The Devils would score the eventual game winner when Corey VonOrden teamed up with Guenther just 43 seconds into the second half, 35:43, 3-1.
Ramapo would make it interesting with a late goal by
Katie Bruno, her third of the season. Bruno tapped the ball past the keeper off a pass by Ahlers in front of the goal to come within one with 1:36 remaining in the game. Ramapo could not score to send the game into OT as the Devils came away with the win.
Despite the loss, Ramapo held a 12-9 edge in shots in the game while FDU recorded seven corners to Ramapo's six.
Rebecca Elliott posted four saves for the Roadrunners.
Ramapo returns to action when they host NJAC rival Rowan University on September 20th at 4:00 PM.
