RAMAPO DOWNS #22 ILLINOIS WESLEYAN AND SIMPSON, 5-4

| Box Score 2 Kissimmee, FL: The Ramapo College softball team took home two wins today over #22 Illinois Wesleyan University (6-4) and Simpson College (11-7), 5-4. The Roadrunners finish 9-1 at the Rebel Spring Games and will return to action on Wednesday when they host Polytechnic University at 3:00 PM.

The Titans scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning, aided by two Roadrunner errors to take a 1-0 lead.

Ramapo took the lead in the top of the third inning, 3-1. Kelsey Higgins and Amanda Kent led off the inning with back to back singles before Ashley Schirripa ripped a single to right field plating Higgins to tie the game, 1-1. With two outs Janet Brown's bloop hit to right center field was misplayed allowing both runners to cross home plate for the lead.

The Titans would get one back in the bottom half of the inning on a sacrifice fly to center field, 3-2 before Ramapo would tack on two insurance runs in the fourth inning. Lisa Orlando and Kelsey Higgins each singles before Erin Brady reached base on catcher's interference to lead the bases for Danielle Rothenberger who drilled a single to left field plating Orlando and Higgins, 5-2. The Titans scored single runs in the fifth and seventh innings to cut the lead to 5-4 but Deanna Giordano and the Ramapo defense recorded two ground outs to end the game and their eighth victory of the season.

Giordano struck out six and scattered five hits in the complete game win, she now stands at 4-1 on the season.

In game two, Ramapo came back to defeat the Red Storm, 5-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Simpson got on the board early in the first with three runs on four hits before Ramapo got on the board in the bottom half of the inning. With two outs Janet Brown smacked a two-run home run over the right centerfield wall scoring Rothenberger who singled earlier in the inning, 3-2.

Simpson got one back in the fourth inning with a run scoring single to left field, 4-2. The Roadrunners would come back with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. The bases were loaded with one out as Higgins singled driving in pinch runner Jaclyn Giangrande before Erin Brady ripped a pinch hit single to center field, scoring Stephanie Malgeri, who walked earlier in the inning. Amanda Kent came up big with one out as she recorded a sacrifice fly to center field, plating Krystal Kmiechick from third base, 5-4.

Ramapo would get the Red Storm to go down 1-2-3 in the top of the seventh inning to pick up the victory. Lauren Shaw started on the mound for Ramapo as she struck out two over four innings of work, scattering five hits in the no-decision. Lyndsay Buehler (4-0) no-hit Simpson for the final three innings, picking up the win. She struck out two in relief.
