#6 TCNJ SHUTS DOWN RAMAPO, 4-0

Ewing, NJ:  The College of New Jersey field hockey team extended their win streak on Tuesday as the Lions scored three times in the second half to propel them to a 4-0 win over visiting Ramapo College.

The win was the seventh straight for TCNJ, which jumped up nine spots to sixth in the latest Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III poll earlier in the day, as they improved to 9-1 on the year and 3-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Complex. The loss knocked Ramapo to 6-4 overall and 0-3 in NJAC play.

TCNJ knocked home the only goal of the opening half as junior Caitlyn Jenkins (Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway) tipped in a shot by senior Alex Okuniewicz (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) on a play that originated off of a penalty corner. That goal came an even 13 minutes into the game.

The Lions almost had a goal earlier in the period, but Ramapo's Lynsey Boss (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) made a nice defensive save.

In the second half, the hosts doubled their advantage as junior Christy Wham (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) scored directly off of an insert from senior Camille Passucci (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) on a penalty corner as she laced a shot in for her third goal of the season.  That score came 9:21 into the new half.

TCNJ continued to cash in on its penalty corners as they tacked on two more goals in a span of 4:22 as freshman Erin Healy (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) scored off an assist from Wham, while Passucci netted the team's fourth goal deflecting an shot from freshman Erin Waller (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.).

Lion goalie Shannon Syciarz (Garwood, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) stopped the only shot she faced for her third shutout of the season.

For the Roadrunners, goalie Rebecca Elliott (Brick, NJ/Brick) made eight saves.

The Lions are back on the field on Thursday for a road game at Neumann University, while Ramapo remains on the road heading to Mercy College on Saturday.
