RAMAPO GETS 4-1 WIN OVER FDU-FLORHAM

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team posted a 4-1 victory over the Devils of FDU-Florham in a non-conference match-up at the Athletic Center. With the win the Roadrunners improve to 4-6 overall while the Devils fall to 4-9.

Senior Amanda Mavrakes (Wayne, NJ) got the Roadrunners on the scoreboard at 13:50 when she ripped a shot past rookie netminder Meghan O'Neil (Highlands, NJ) for a 1-0 Ramapo lead. The Roadrunners had an opportunity to take a two goal advantage with a penalty stroke with just over seven minutes to play in the half but Kayleigh White (South Plainfield, NJ) came into the game and denied the shot holding the score at 1-0.

In the first half, Ramapo held a 12-1 edge in shots and O'Neil blocked seven shots for the Devils. Amanda Ferry (Gloucester City, NJ) made one save in front of the cage for Ramapo.

In the opening of the second half, senior Mackenzie Cahill (Pompton Plains, NJ) ripped a shot into the cage giving the Roadrunners a 2-0 lead at 52 minutes flat, before Megan Boise (Budd Lake, NJ) put the Roadrunners up three goals to none capitalizing on a penalty stroke at 55:19.

The Devils broke the shutout at 56:57 with an unassisted goal from senior Alex DeVito (South Plainfield, NJ), before a shot from Jayne Manigrasso (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) put Ramapo up, 4-1 with under 13 minutes to play. The goal was Manigrasso's ninth of the year.

The score remained until the final buzzer with Ramapo ahead, 4-1.  Ramapo outshot FDU, 9-4 in the final half, holding a game edge in penalty corners, 14-6.  Ferry finished the day with one save and O'Neil totaled 13.

The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 10th when they host NJAC rival Richard Stockton College.  The Roadrunners will be hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness Day to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen For the Cure.  All tickets sales and concession sales go to the Susan G. Komen For the Cure.  All fans are encouraged to wear pink on Saturday.  As always we thank you for your support!
