Mahwah, NJ: The Lions of the College of New Jersey defeated the Roadrunners, 6-0 today in a New Jersey Athletic Conference field hockey match-up at the Athletic Center in Mahwah. With the win, the Lions remain undefeated in the NJAC improving to 4-0, 10-1 overall. Ramapo falls to 1-2 in the conference and 4-8 overall.
It took just one minute and 24 seconds for the Lions to get on the scoreboard when rookie Alexandria Okuniewicz (Toms River, NJ) connected on a penalty corner from Katie Reuther (Toms River, NJ), recording her 8th goal of the season, and what turned out to be the game winner. Kendra Boyd (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) gave the Lions a 2-0 edge just under one minute later. Jackie Gelinas (Flemington, NJ) assisted the goal for her first of four in the game. Okuniewicz joined forces with Gelinas at 23:59 and Gabby Cafone (Fairfield, NJ) connected on a pass from Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel, NJ) at 28:24 to take a four-goal advantage. Cafone struck again with just over one minute to go in the half to head into the intermission, 5-0 over Ramapo. Gelinas posted her third assist on the game's fifth goal.

Megan Tierney (Wayne, NJ) blocked eight shots in the second half holding the Lions to just one goal in the period. Mitchell earned the goal off Gelinas' fourth assist at 63:56, for the TCNJ 6-0 victory.
Tierney finished the game with 15 saves for Ramapo while Shannon Syciarz (Garwood, NJ) and Sammi Brach (Belle Mead, NJ) spilt time in front of the cage combining for four Lions' saves. The Lions took 28 shots, 23 on goal, in the game while Ramapo got off five with four on target.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday, October 16th when they host the Valiants of Manhattanville College at 4:15 PM. The Lions take on Salisbury University on Saturday, October 18th at 6:00 PM in Salisbury, MD.
