Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team posted a 3-0 victory today over the Pacers of Marywood University in a non-conference match-up n Mahwah. Ramapo improves to 1-1 overall and returns to action on September 10th away at Castleton at 11:00 AM.
Sophomore
Ashley Zimmerman (North Plainfield, NJ) ripped three shots past sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Ziemski from Parsippany, NJ, leading the Roadrunners to their first win of the 2006 season. Zimmerman gave the Roadrunners a 1-0 lead at 12:14 off a cross from rookie
Sara Weimer (Atlantic Highlands, NJ). Zimmerman struck once again at 19:55 connecting again with Weimer. Before the half came to an end, Zimmerman posted the hat trick goal at 28:39, unassisted, to give Ramapo a 3-0 edge.
Despite ripping two shots in the second half of play, the Roadrunners were held to no goals in the final 35:00 minutes and Marywood's Alyssa Robbins (Phillipsburg, NJ) closed the gap for the Pacers at 63:04 off a cross from Carly Savastano (Honesdale, PA).
Ramapo's Jenna Fenninello (Clark, NJ) blocked two shots in the second half holding onto the 3-1 win. Fenninello recorded six total saves in the victory while Ziemski blocked three for the Pacers. The Roadrunners posted eight total shots in the match-up while Marywood posted 11.
