Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College field hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision today to the Red Hawks of Montclair State in Mahwah. The Roadrunners fall to 2-2 overall, 0-1 NJAC while the Red Hawks improve to 5-0 overall, 1-0 in the conference.
Rookie Jennifer Tanis (Oak Ridge , NJ ) posted what turned out to be the game winner just 12 minutes into the game off a cross from senior Lisa Smicklo (Toms River, NJ). Senior Erin Balint (East Brunswick , NJ ) added an insurance goal for the Red Hawks at 15:00 from Smicklo ending the first half, 2-0 over Ramapo. Tanis gave Montclair the 3-0 edge at 38:27, unassisted.
Junior goalkeeper Robyn Apicelli (Oceanport , NJ ) blocked two shots in 70:00 minutes earning her second shut out of the year while KATELYN FERGUSON (Sussex , NJ) recorded 11 saves in the complete game. Montclair out shot Ramapo 17-2.
The Roadrunners will host College of New Jersey on Tuesday, September 21st at 4:00 PM.
