Wayne, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team won their 9th straight with a pair of wins over William Paterson University, 2-0 in game one and 7-1 in game two as they improve to 15-3 overall and 4-0 in the NJAC. The Pioneers fall to 0-16 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

Game 1:
The Pioneers were able to hold Ramapo to just two hits in game one but the Roadrunners were able to score two runs and hold WPU scoreless. In the second, with one out
Niah Murphy reached on an error before
Hannah Hensler laced a double to left-center to plate Murphy, 1-0. In the fifth,
Lia Milsom led off with an infield single before stealing second base. An infield WPU throwing error allowed Milsom to come around and score for a 2-0 lead.

Mahogany Wheeler (3-0) scattered four hits in four complete innings of work with one strikeout and no walks.
Brooke Knight struck out three in three innings of work to earn the save in relief.

Game 2:
In the top of the first with one out,
Alexis Corra singled and later scored on a Wheeler double for a quick 1-0 lead. Wheeler moved to third on a wild pitch before
Avery Kontura plated her with a double to right field, 2-0. WPU scored one in the bottom half of the inning before Ramapo added one in the third and four in the seventh. In the third,
Katie Rygiel led off with a triple down the right field line before Wheeler knocked her in with an RBI groundout. In the seventh, the Roadrunners loaded the bases with one out before Kontura worked a walk to force home Corra, 4-1. Hensler laced a single to center field which plated two runs in Wheeler and
Avery Bartolomeo, 6-1. The final run came across on a
Kori Gargiulo RBI groundout which plated Kontura, 7-1.

Kassy Stefanski (5-2) struck out five, walked none and scattered three hits in four innings of work to earn the win in the circle for the Roadrunners. Knight earned her second save of the day with two strikeouts in three innings of work.

Corra, Wheeler and Bartolomeo each recorded two hits in game two with Bartolomeo recording her 100th career hit. Wheeler, Kontura and Hensler each contributed with two RBI.

Ramapo returns to action tomorrow afternoon on the road at Rutgers-Camden with a pair of NJAC games beginning at 1pm.Â
