Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team has been picked to finish sixth overall in the 2024 New Jersey Athletic Conference Preseason poll announced today by the league office.
 
Led by first-year interim head coach Varonica Van Thuyne, the Roadrunners return senior captain Kelly Griffin who was named NJAC All-Conference last season. Griffin started all 15 games for the Roadrunners where she was second in goals scored (39) and assists (14). She also tallied 23 ground balls, 61 draw controls and 17 caused turnovers. Senior captains Julianna McClain and Kaylie Gresek also return to the team where they each started all 15 games last season. McClain posted one goal and one assist along with 28 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers. Gresek led the team with 21 assists while adding 12 goals for 33 points. Junior Lauren Travaglini will help lead the team on defense, she added six goals and four assists while collecting 17 ground balls, 23 draw controls and 14 caused turnovers. Sophomores Bethany Glaser and Erin Smeilus return to the 2024 squad. Glaser collected eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points while recording 49 draw controls and 16 ground balls. Smeilus posted 27 points with 16 goals and 11 assists while adding 10 ground balls. Coach Van Thyune adds freshman goalkeeper Daniella Indomenico to the team and looks to join returning goalkeeper Alyssa Curto.
 
"I am very very excited to see how far these players will go this season, they have been working very hard and are ready to give it their all on the field. Everyone has something unique to bring to the team and I can't wait to see them use each other's strengths in games", says coach Van Thuyne.
 
The Roadrunners open the 2024 season at home on Saturday, March 2nd when they host St. Joseph's Long Island at the Athletic Center Turf Field at 1:00 PM. The team will play ten non-conference games before they open the NJAC season on Saturday, April 6th when they travel to the College of New Jersey for a 1:00 PM game.
