Panama City Beach, FL: The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team defeated Ramapo College today at The Spring Fling, 9-7. The Roadrunners move to 3-3 overall while the Rams now stand at 3-4 on the year.
Framingham State opened up a 4-1 lead in the first quarter as
Meri Cassidy scored an unassisted goal to get the Roadrunners on the board. Ramapo would score the first three goals of the second quarter to tie the game at four.
Darrien Pennachio scored the first goal of the quarter off a pass from
Leah Whitney before
Kassidy Baez tacked on an unassisted goal with 5:53 remaining. Pennachio then tied the game up with an unassisted goal with just 36 seconds remaining. Baez scored unassisted in the third quarter to take a 5-4 lead before the Rams tied the game again with a goal from Jenna James, 5-5. Cassidy then posted an unassisted goal to give Ramapo a 6-5 lead with 9:27 remaining in the third. Neither team would score until the fourth quarter as the Rams added four straight goals to take a 9-6 lead. Ramapo put in the final goal of the game as
Jada Oddo connected with
Meri Cassidy to score the team's seventh goal.
Lexi Callari led the Roadrunners with three caused turnovers while she added two ground balls and one draw control. Baez, Cassidy and Pennachio each tallied two goals for the team.
Daniella Indomenico posted four saves in goal for Ramapo.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow evening when they take on Keene State at The Spring Fling at 5:00 PM.
