Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team defeated FDU-Florham for the first time in program history tonight at the Athletic Center, 20-7. The Roadrunners improve to 4-5 overall while the Devils move to 4-3 on the year.
Ramapo scored seven unanswered goals in the first quarter of action as the Roadrunner defense and goalie
Daniella Indomenico kept the Devils off the board.
Erin Smeilus tallied three goals in the first quarter while
Bethany Glaser,
Meri Cassidy,
Kassidy Baez and
Jada Oddo scored the other four goals. Each team tallied three goals in the second quarter as Ramapo went into halftime with a 10-3 lead. Kristen Mellon (two goals) and Julianna Medina each scored for the Devils before Ramapo scored three straight goals.
Leah Whitney, Smeilus and
Darrien Pennachio each hit the back of the net for the Roadrunners. Oddo, Glaser and Pennachio each scored for Ramapo in the third while the team added seven more goals in the final quarter. Glaser added three goals while Smeilus,
Lexi Callari, Cassidy, Baez each tallied one goal. FDU posted two goals in the final two frames of the game. Whitney led the team with three assists while Pennachio, Baez and Cassidy each recorded two assists and Callari added one. Whitney also led the team with four ground balls while Glaser led the team with nine draw controls. Baez posted three caused turnovers while Glaser and
Kristina McClain each collected two. Indomenico posted seven total saves in the game to earn the win.
The Roadrunners return to action on Monday, March 30th when they host USMMA at the Athletic Center Turf Field at 5:00 PM.
