Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team defeated non-conference rival FDU-Florham today at the Athletic Center Turf Field, 2-1. The Roadrunners improve to 3-1 overall while the Devils now stand at 1-2 on the year.
Ramapo out shot FDU-Florham 14-0 heading into halftime while they led 1-0.
Victoria Docherty scored her team high fifth goal of the season off a pass from
Maggie Farrell for the one goal lead in the second quarter (26:03).
Allison Tanasy posted her third goal of the season in the third quarter (35:54) as
Clare Nugent and
Maggie Farrell earned the assist on the game-winner, 2-0.
The Devils would get on board late in the fourth quarter (48:58) as Dominique Rodriquez ripped a shot in front of the net which was inadvertently redirected by a Ramapo defender. The Roadrunner defense and
Michelle Kukan kept the Devils off the board in the final minutes of the game for the 2-1 victory.
Ramapo held an 18-7 lead in shots in the game including 12-4 in shots on goal while they also posted 11 penalty corners to FDU's nine. Kukan posted three saves in the game for the Roadrunners while Emily Prachthauser collected ten saves for the Devils.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 14th when they travel to Western Connecticut State University for a non-conference game at 4pm.
