New York, NY: The Ramapo College men's indoor track and field team opened the season tonight at the TCNJ Winter Open hosted by the College of New Jersey at the New York Armory.
Cheickna Traore broke his own NCAA Division III indoor national record in the 300-meter dash tonight when he crossed the finish line in 33.64 seconds while also breaking his own school record. Traore also posted a school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.76 seconds which is also 14th on the all-time NCAA Division III list. Traore placed second overall in both events competing against both unattached professional and NCAA Division I athletes.
In the 60-meter dash unseeded event,
Brandon Rivera placed 5th (7.75 seconds) and
Jason Potterton placed 6th with a personal best time of 7.82 seconds.
Kenyon Fenderson finished in 6th place in the 300-meter dash with a personal best time of 36.02 seconds while
Max Dubac clocked in at 51.52 seconds in the 400-meter dash. In the mile race,
Ryan Pena crossed the finish line in 4:26.73 for a 6th place finish while Ramapo went 2-3 in the 5k race.
Jason Mercado clocked in with a time of 16:11.35 to place second while
Ian McCauley placed 3rd in 16:18.81. In the field events, Potterton placed 2nd overall in the triple jump with a mark of 12.75-meters while Rivera finished 3rd in 12.73-meters.
Nicolo Caminiti posted a mark of 1.76-meters in the high jump to place 6th overall.
Sebastian Pross finished 5th overall in the weight throw with a mark of 14.12-meters and
Michael Ramos finished in 11th place in the shot put with a mark of 11.23-meters.
The Roadrunners return to action on Friday, December 9th when they travel to the Seahawk Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex where the meet is set to begin at 1pm.
