New York, NY: The Ramapo College men's outdoor track and field team competed at the Metropolitan Championships today at Icahn Stadium. The Roadrunners finished in third place as a team as they combined their efforts to earn 80 points.
Samuel Thomas and
Wander Dilone went 2-3 in the 100m dash finals as Thomas posted a personal best time of 10.64 seconds while Dilone posted a time of 10.78 seconds Both athletes qualified for the AARTFC meet later this season. Thomas grabbed another personal best time in the 200m dash, placing fifth overall in 22.00 seconds.
Logan Natale and Dilone finished in sixth (22.10 seconds) and seventh (22.32 seconds) place respectively. In the 400m dash,
Jordan Hart (sixth) and
Jaycen Peterson (seventh) posted times of 50.17 seconds and 50.33 seconds respectively.
Sebastian Herrera grabbed a personal best mark in the 800m race when he crossed the finish line 2:01.68 while
Jorge Gomez Garza was right behind him in 2:01.72.
Shyami Craig posted a personal best time of 4:11.24 in the 1500m race. In the 110 hurdle finals, Benjamin Zelasco placed fifth overall with a personal best time of 16.03 seconds while
Anthony Sileo finished in eighth place in 18.08 seconds. The Roadrunners had three athletes finish in the top 10 of the 400m hurdles as
Colin Unis (fifth) posted a time of 57.82 seconds,
Sebastian Broncano (seventh) finished in 59.57 seconds and
Kaison Kinery finished in ninth place in 1:01.88.
All three relay teams placed in the top three in the meet. The 4x400m relay team grabbed a second-place finish in 3:16.35. The team was made up of
Mark Shinkorenko, Natale, Peterson and Hart. The 4x800m relay team also finished in second-place as they posted a combined time of 8:08.07. The team was made up of
Julian Mignone, Herrera,
Ryan Pena and
John Swaney. The 4x100m relay team placed third overall with a combined time of 42.47 seconds. The team was made up of Dilone, Thomas,
Darnel Romain and
Kevin Ortiz.
Sebastiano Secades posted a mark of 5.51m in the long jump while
Braden Holm finished in 5th place in the shot put with a mark of 13.45m. Holm also finished sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.33m. In the javelin,
Nick Palmadesso finished third overall with a mark of 54.17m while
Alexander Jimenez placed seventh (47.35m).
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, April 11th when they travel to Rutgers University for the Rutgers Relays.
