Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team earned a 4-1 non-conference win over visiting Moravian University today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners move to 11-5 overall while the Greyhounds now stand at 6-10 overall.
Mariah Tovar took a pass from
Maggie Farrell in the 9th minute of action in the first quarter to put Ramapo on the board, 1-0. Sarah Bietka would score her second goal of the season to tie the game, 1-1, in the 12th minute for the Greyhounds. Neither team would hit the back of the net in the second quarter before Ramapo added two goals for a 3-1 lead.
Victoria Docherty posted her team leading 8th goal of the season (31:43) before Tovar added her second goal of the game and sixth of the year in the 41st minute (40:44). In the fourth quarter
Katie Yarussi tallied her fourth goal of the year off pass a from Tovar for the 4-1 score.
Ramapo tallied 28 shots including 13 on goal while Moravian posted 17 shots and 13 on goal. Ramapo starting goalie
Erika Roura posted 12 stops for the Roadrunners in the cage in her first career win. For Moravian, Brooke Wilkinson recorded eight saves in the game. The Roadrunners tallied 14 penalty corners in the game while the Greyhounds tallied seven.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 29th when they travel to #3 Rowan University for the final NJAC regular season game of the year at 1pm.
