Glassboro, NJ: The Rowan University field hockey team posted a 9-1 NJAC victory over Ramapo College today to wrap up the regular season for both teams. The Profs, who are currently ranked #3 in the NFHCA Top 25 Poll, move to 17-1 overall and 6-0 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners move to 11-6 overall and 2-4 in the conference.
The Profs earned the #1 seed in the upcoming NJAC Tournament and will host a semifinal game on Wednesday, November 2nd. The Roadrunners will wait to see if they earn a bid to the 2022 ECAC Tournament; the ECAC bracket will be announced on Monday, November 7th.
Rowan's Julia Patrone and Morgan Mulvey each scored goals in the first quarter to give the Profs a 2-0 lead. In the second, Kristiina Castagnola and Rachel Stone added to the Profs lead with one goal each before Ramapo got on the board.
Maggie Farrell tallied her Xth goal of the season off a pass from
Victoria Chavez from a penalty corner with 29:15 on the clock.
In the third quarter, the Profs extended their lead with four goals while they added one more in the final quarter of the game for the 9-1 win. In the fourth, Castagnola added two goals before Vanessa DiDonato added the team's seventh goal of the game. Mulvey then put in back-to-back goals of her own to close out the game.
Rowan recorded 18 shots on goal while Ramapo tallied five shots and four on goal. The Profs collected 14 corners in the game while the Roadrunners recorded four.
Erika Roura earned nine saves in the cage for Ramapo while Abby Hainswortth tallied three for the Profs.
