TIMPANELLI SIGNS WITH THE REDS

Mahwah, NJ:  Ramapo College baseball standout Vincent Timpanelli has signed a professional contract with the Cincinnati Reds Organization.

Timpanelli becomes the fourth Roadrunner to sign with the club; following in the footsteps of pitchers Jerry D'Andrea (2018), Cory Heitler (2018) and PJ Cerreto (2013). Timpanelli, who started his collegiate career behind the plate, will transition to a pitcher in the Reds minor league system. Before the rest of the Spring 2020 season was canceled for the Roadrunners, Timpanelli had earned the save on the mound during game two of their opening day doubleheader. During his summer league games, he has been clocked at 95 MPH.

"This means the world to me. With the crazy ups and down of my baseball career it was only right that achieving my dream of playing professional baseball happened in a crazy way as well. As a lifelong catcher who only began really pitching in February getting signed as a pitcher is just another crazy turn that I'm ready to take on. I saw quarantine as an opportunity instead of a momentum killer and used it to my advantage by learning how to pitch and not just throw off a mound. I truly believe what you put into something is what you will get out of it and to me this proves that statement," Vincent Timpanelli

Timpanelli joined the Roadrunners in the Fall of 2018 after a two-year stint at Saint Thomas Aquinas College (STAC). He wrapped up his junior season with the Roadrunners with a .321 batting average, .477 slugging percentage and .383 on base percentage. He collected 35 hits including nine doubles, one triple and two home runs while posting 18 RBI and 20 runs scored.

"Vin has been a leader for us since he stepped on campus in September of 2018. He is a tremendous talent and his work ethic is second to none, which allowed him to grow and progress every single day. After the fall of 2019, it was very obvious that this day would come at some point. We are so proud of him and know with how hard he works and the head he has on his shoulders, the sky is the limit for him in the Reds organization," head coach Ryan Rinsky.
