SOFTBALL DROPS TWO AT NTC SPRING GAMES

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Clermont, FL:  The Ramapo College softball team dropped two games today at the NTC Spring Games. The Roadrunners fell to Fontbonne University, 9-1, in six innings before falling to Bethel University, 7-1.

Ramapo (2-5 overall) return to action tomorrow morning when they take on Keene State at 9am and Plymouth State University at 11am.

In game one, Fontbonne (8-4 overall) scored five runs after their first two at-bats, they scored three runs in the first before added two more in the second inning. The Griffins scored scored one unearned run in the fifth and three more in the top of the sixth to take a, 9-0 lead.

Ramapo scored their lone run in the bottom of the sixth. Pinch hitter Taylor May ripped a single down the left field line allowing Kim LaPenta to cross home plate. Ramapo could not push another run across the plate, as the Griffins came away with the 9-1, six -inning mercy rule victory.

Danielle Isenberg started the game for the Roadrunners on the mound, she gave up three runs on three hits with three walks. Nicole Schneider worked the final 5.1 innings, she struck out three, walked one while surrendering 11 hits and six runs (five earned). Mikayla Melendez was the only player to record a multi-hit game as she went 2-3.

In game two against Bethel University (MN), the two teams remained scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when Ramapo broke through for the first run of the game. With the bases loaded for Melissa Moreno, she drove a single to center field scoring LaPenta for the team's lone run of the game.

Bethel (5-4 overall) would take the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning as they scored three runs on three hits and one Ramapo error. They added four runs to their lead in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a, 7-1, lead. The sixth inning was highlighted by Caroline Kiv's two-RBI triple to right center field.

Harley Masiello (1-4) went the distance for the Roadrunners, she struck out three and walked none while she gave up seven runs (six earned) on 11 Bethel hit's.

Masiello and May each went 2-3 in the game while Danielle Saporito, Melendez, LaPenta and Moreno each recorded one hit.
