Owings Mills, MD: The Ramapo College field hockey team shutout Nuemann University today, 7-0 at the Black-Eyed Susan Tournament hosted by Stevenson University. The Roadrunners open up the 2010 season 1-0. Five different Roadrunners scored in the game.
The Roadrunners were led by junior
Amanda Barretta (Roseland, NJ) who put three goals into the back of the net. Sophomore
Katie Bruno (Middletown, NJ) scored the unassisted game winner just over two minutes into the game, her first goal of the season. Barretta tallied her first goal of the game just over nine minutes later to put Ramapo ahead, 2-0. Junior
Jayne Manigrasso (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) scored her first goal of the season; she was assisted by
Samantha Gardner (Frankfort, NJ).
Sophomore
Victoria Ahlers (Freehold, NJ) took a pass from Bruno with just over 35 minutes into the game and hit the back of the net before junior
Rebecca Penhaker (Wantage, NJ) ripped a shot to put the Roadrunners up 5-0, 41:19 into the game. Barretta tallied the final two goals for Ramapo, the first was unassisted before the final goal came 56:23 into the game off a penalty corner. She was assisted by junior
Rachel Seidman (Somerset, NJ).
Sophomore
Rebecca Elliott (Brick, NJ) posted two saves in over 58 minutes in the cage for the win while sophomore
Amanda Ferry and rookie
Alicia Lyons also saw action in the cage.
