Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team swept a NJAC double header today against Rutgers-Newark University, 7-0 and 11-1. The Roadrunners earned their 20th win of the season as they raise their record to 20-12 and 9-3 in the conference. The Scarlet Raiders fall to, 11-21 overall and 1-11 in the conference.
Ramapo scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning when they batted around in the inning. With the bases loaded and no outs rookie

Katie Donnelly (North Haledon, NJ) with a sac fly to deep center field before junior
Stephanie Malgeri (Montville, NJ) hit a sacrifice fly to left field plating rookie
Amanda Kent (Sparta, NJ) to take a 2-0 lead. A walk and single once again loaded the bases for Ramapo before a wild pitch allowed sophomore
Danielle Rothenberger (Livingston, NJ) to score from third base. The Roadrunners batted around in the inning as Donnelly knocked a single to left field plating rookie
Stephanie Jones (Robbinsville, NJ) and Fischer before Rutgers Newark recorded the final out of the inning.
Malgeri ripped a double to right field in the bottom of the fourth inning and later scored on a infield single by Jones to take a 7-0 lead. The Roadrunners held the Scarlet Raiders the final three innings for the victory.
Junior
Deanna Giordano (Clifton, NJ) (8-6) scattered four hits in the complete game shut out while she recorded seven strikeouts.
In game two Ramapo wasted no time taking a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Rothenberger doubled to center field scoring Donnelly who reached on a single to lead off the game. Back to back singles by Schrippa and Malgeri plated Rothenberger for the second run of the inning. After both runners moved up on a wild pitch, Schrippa would score on Orlando's sacrifice foul out to deep right field before Malgeri would score, unearned, on an infield error, 4-0.
The Roadrunners tacked on two runs in the fourth and one run in the fifth, a solo home run by Fischer, 7-0. Rutgers-Newark scored their lone run of the game in the fifth inning when Amber Affholter singled up the middle allowing Samantha Veneziano to score from second, she reached on an infield single earlier in the inning.
Ramapo scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to take at 11-1 lead. Fischer led off the inning with a double off the left field fence before coming home on an infield error. Jones later scored on an single to left field by rookie

Janet Brown (Point Pleasant, NJ) knocked in two runs with a double to deep center field, 11-1.
Junior
Lyndsay Buehler (River Vale, NJ) (10-3) earned the win as she struck out ten while surrendering seven hits in the complete game.
Jones was a combined 4-6 with three runs scored and two RBI while Donnelly was 4-8 with three runs scored and two RBI. Fischer was 3-6 with three runs scored and one RBI with a double and home run.
The Roadrunners take the field on Thursday, April 22 when they host non-conference foe Albright College at 3:00 PM.
