Kissimmee, FL: The Ramapo College softball team fell to 4-5 on the season as they dropped a tough 2-1 decision to #22 Illinois Wesleyan University. The Roadrunners bounced back against Saint Norbert with a 3-2 win. Ramapo now stands at 5-5 on the season.
In the bottom of the second inning Illinois Wesleyan got on the board with the game's first run. With the bases loaded and two outs a infield error allowed Katie Bruins to score, she reached on a walk to lead off the inning.
Rookie
Stephanie Jones ripped a double to right center and was moved to third base on a infield ground out before rookie
Amanda Kent ripped an infield single back up the middle and beat out the throw from the Titan short stop while Jones was able to score on the play tying the game 1-1.
The Titans took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning when Lisa Narotsky walked to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a infield groundout. With two outs Kayla Mahoney hit a single that fell into short centerfield, senior
Katie Donnelly made a throw from center field to the plate but the runner slide under the tag putting Illinois Wesleyan up 2-1.
Junior
Deanna Giordano falls to 2-2 on the year, allowing only four hits, two runs (one earned) and striking out seven. Kent was 2-2 in the game with one RBI.
In game two Saint Norbert College took a 1-0 lead after the top of the first inning when on an RBI double.
Both teams put zero's up on the scoreboard until the fifth inning when the Roadrunners took a 3-1 lead. Rookie
Lisa Orlando singled to center field with one out and advanced to second on a wild pitch before rookie
Deanna Russomanno walked. Donnelly then fouled out to the catcher before junior
Rachel Wong ripped a double to center field as Orlando scored from second base and Russmanno moved up to third. Sophomore
Danielle Rothenberger continued to swing a hot bat when she ripped a single to left field plating Russomanno and Wong to take a 3-1 lead.
Saint Norbert would get one run back in the top of the seventh. Back to back singles put runners at first and second before a pop up and fielder's choice put the Roadrunners within one out of ending the game. A RBI single scored the second run for Saint Norbert before a ground out to short stop sophomore
Tiffany Fischer ended the threat as Ramapo came away with a 3-2 win.
Junior
Lyndsay Buehler pitched a complete game striking out four while surrendering seven hits. She raises her record to 3-1 on the season. Orlando was 2-3 with one run scored while Wong was 1-3 with one run scored and one RBI.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow in their final games at the 2010 Rebel Spring Games when they play Nazareth College at 11:00 AM and University of Wisconsin River Falls at 1:00 PM.
