Pitman, NJ: The 2009 NJAC Softball All-Conference teams were announced today and five members of the Roadrunners team were among the honorees.
Sophomore pitcher
Deanna Giordano (Clifton, NJ) earned NJAC First Team honors as she has led the Roadrunners in wins and ERA this season. Giordano currently leads the team in strikeouts (109), ERA (0.88), wins (14), shutouts (4), innings pitched (127.2), fewest walks allowed (14) and opponents are batting .202 against her. This is Giordano's first NJAC All-Conference honor in her career.
Sophomore right fielder
Brittney McKeon (Toms River, NJ) earned NJAC First Team honors after being on the honorable mention team in 2008. McKeon posted the highest NJAC batting average in the league at .463. Overall she is batting .329 with 26 hits on 79 at-bats. She has a 1.000 fielding percentage with one assist on the year.
Junior center fielder
Katie Donnelly (North Haledon, NJ) earns NJAC First Team honors after being named to the NJAC Second Team in 2008. Donnelly leads the team with 29 hits and second on the team in runs scored with 25. She's posted team high three triples and 17 stolen bases.
Sophomore catcher
Stephanie Malgeri (Montville, NJ) and rookie designated player
Danielle Rothenberger (Livingston, NJ) earned NJAC Second Team honors for the first time in their careers. Malgeri posted a .315 batting average in the NJAC while knocking in 11 RBI with 17 hits and three doubles and one home run. Rothenberger batted .357 in the NJAC with ten RBI as she pounded out six doubles and two home runs. Overall, Rothenberger leads the team in batting average, .354 with 11 runs scored, 28 hits, eight doubles and 13 RBI.
The Roadrunners, the #4 seed in the 2009 NJAC Tournament, take on #1 Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ on Friday at 1:30 PM as they try to capture their first ever NJAC Championship.
