JERSEY CITY, NJ…Ramapo College took advantage of five errors by New Jersey City University in game one and scored in each of the first four innings in the nightcap as the Roadrunners swept a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader from NJCU, 9-1 in five innings and 5-1, Tuesday at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex. It was the 50th and 51st meetings between the schools.

RCNJ (31-7, 13-3), ranked #17 nationally by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, wins its 12th consecutive games, while the Knights (14-20, 4-12 NJAC) lose their fourth straight. With six games remaining in the regular season, NJCU must win all six to qualify for ECAC Tournament contention. Ramapo also won its 12th consecutive game in the series, which it leads, 37-14.

Also for Ramapo, junior catcher Kelly Schriber (Montclair, NJ/Mount St. Dominic) was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and senior third baseman Lauren Cascino (New Windsor, NY/Cornwall Central) finished 2-for-3 with two runs. Junior first baseman Marilee Farmer (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) chipped in two RBIs.

Freshman second baseman DANIELLE DELFINO (Jersey City, NJ/County Prep) swiped her 28th base of the season for NJCU. Junior right-hander ANDREA DELUCREZIA (Belleville, NJ/St. Mary's-Rutherford) took the loss for NJCU (4-11).

In the first inning, McKeon homered to right for a 1-0 lead and an RBI groundout by Farmer gave RCNJ the eventual winning margin. Wong had an RBI single for a 3-0 edge. Schriber had a third inning RBI single before a fifth run came home on an error. NJCU got a run back in the third on an RBI single by senior shortstop SUSIE MATSUTANI (Gallup, NM/Gallup).

The Roadrunners tagged on their final four runs in the fourth on an RBI double by Schriber, a Farmer sac fly, and a Wong RBI single. The ninth run scored when a runner scored from third before the inning ended on a double steal attempt that resulted in the trailing runner being tagged out.

***********GAME 2: Ramapo College 5, New Jersey City University 1***********

In game two each school had eight hits, but freshman righty Lyndsay Buehler (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) struck out 10 and walked just one to earn the win for RCNJ (8-2). She allowed one run and eight hits.

NJCU sophomore righty LACEY SKOWRONSKI (Bayonne, NJ/Holy Family Academy) was also solid. In 6.0 innings, she allowed only two earned runs and eight hits, with two strikeouts and two walks, but fell to 8-9. She was the offensive star of the game at the plate, going 3-for-4

Sophomore centerfielder TARA PERRUCCI (Wallington, NJ/Wallington) became the sixth NJCU player to hit a homerun this season as she went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Her solo roundtripper to lead off the second inning tied the game at 1-1 and was the first homer of her career. She also had a double in each game of the doubleheader.

Ramapo sophomore centerfielder Katie Donnelly (North Haledon, NJ/Eastern Christian) was the lone Roadrunner with multiple hits, going 2-for-4.

RCNJ, the home team by NJAC rule in game two, took a 1-0 lead in the first. After McKeon reached on an error, Schriber took advantage and knocked a two-out RBI double to center. Perrucci's homer tied it in the second.

But despite four Ramapo errors in the game, NJCU was unable to score again. NJCU left 11 runners stranded in the game, including two in the first, second, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

RCNJ pushed the eventual winning margin across in the second when junior catcher Amanda Sansevere (West Keansburg, NJ/Raritan) and freshman leftfielder Ashley O'Rourke (Pequannock, NJ/Pequannock) pulled off a double steal with O'Rourke crossing the plate for a 2-1 lead. RCNJ added a third run in the third on an RBI single by O'Rourke. Ramapo scored its two final runs in the fourth on a passed ball and sacrifice fly by McKeon after an error had extended the inning.

NJCU will return to action tomorrow at 5 p.m. when it visits St. Joseph's College in a non-conference doubleheader in Patchogue, NY. RCNJ concludes its regular season on April 26 in a conference twinbill at Kean University.
