RAMAPO SPLITS DAY TWO IN FLORIDA

Kissimme, FL: The Ramapo College softball team dropped their first match-up of the day, 5-1 to St. Thomas before recording their 3rd victory of the season, 3-1 over Otterbein. The Roadrunners stand at 3-1 overall after two days in Kissimme, Florida.

vs. St. Thomas: The Roadrunners held St. Thomas until the bottom of the 4th when the first three batters got to first on a single, was hit by a pitch, and hit a second single respectively. Kristi Huegal (Alta Vista, Iowa) ripped a RBI double scoring Nikki Conway (Mendota Heights), Michelle Wong (Golden Valley), and Kaja Martinson (Burnsville). Huegel crossed the plate on an error and Janet Nagle (Minnetonka) drove a triple bringing in Ashley Carblom (Eveleth) taking a 5-0 lead over Ramapo. The Roadrunners brought in one run closing the gap in the 7th after ELIZABETH CHOMA (East Brunswick, NJ) singled and later scored on a RBI single ripped by COURTNEY GAMBETTA (Woodbridge, NJ). Nagle held Ramapo to one run striking out three and walking two in the 5-1 victory for St. Thomas.CHOMA went 1-3 with one run and ERICA MOORE (Hazlet, NJ) and MICHELE ROSSI (Emerson, NJ) hit 1-3 in the loss. Senior pitcher JAMIE ANZALDI (Clifton, NJ) pitched three innings striking out three while MARISSA MARINO (Wayne, NJ) stepped in mid 4th recording two strikeouts and one walk.

vs. Otterbein: Otterbein opened to a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st after Lynne Huck (Columbus) doubled to score Crissi Meyers (Newark, NJ) who reached on a fielder's choice earlier in the inning. Ramapo posted two of their own in the bottom of the 4th taking a 2-1 lead over Otterbein. Junior ALICIA CRUZ (East Brunswick, NJ) touched home on a single by MOORE and ANDREA PASTIGLIONE (Southern California, CA) drove in VIRGINIA O'BRIEN (Emerson, NJ) who reached on a fielder's choice to get on base. The Roadrunners added an insurance run in the 6th dropping Otterbein, 3-1 in Kissimme. GAMBETTA added the run on a wild pitch after pinch hitting for CRUZ posted a single to get to first. PASTIGLIONE hit a perfect 4-4 with one RBI while CRUZ and GAMBETTA hit 1-1 with one run apiece. O'BRIEN went 1-3 with one run in the victory. PASTIGLIONE pitched six innings posting two strikeouts and two walks while MARINO stepped in to pitch the last inning striking out none and walking two.
