Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College field hockey team wrapped up their 2004 regular season to day at the Athletic Center in Mahwah posting a 2-1 victory , (2-1 penalty strokes) over the Cougars of Kean University. Ramapo improves to 9-7 overall, 2-4 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Cougars fall to 11-6 overall, 2-4 in the conference.
The game remained scoreless until the 26th minute when rookie back Allison Green (West Deptford, NJ) hit the back of the cage giving the Cougars a 1-0 edge over the Roadrunners. Just over ten minutes into the second half, Ramapo was awarded a penalty stroke and rookie DEVIN FLYNN (Mullicattill, NJ) stepped to the line and tied the game at one goal apiece, 46:07.
The final 24 minutes of regulation, and both overtime periods of the game remained scoreless finishing regulation, 1-1. Ramapo's FLYNN posted what turned out to be the game winner during penalty strokes shooting second for Ramapo. JAQUELYN GAROFALO (Middletown, NJ) posted Ramapo's other goal while Vicki Egerer (Washington, NJ) posted the lone goal during the penalty strokes for Kean. Ramapo defeated Kean, 2-1 in strokes.
