OFFENSE LIFTS RAMAPO TO WINS OVER SMITH & MEREDITH

Clermont, FL:  The Ramapo College softball team earned a pair of wins today at THE Spring Games to move to 6-0 overall. They defeated Smith College 11-3 and Meredith College 8-0, both games going five innings.

Game #1: Ramapo 11, Smith 3
The Roadrunners took now time in taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Aimee Notaro laced a single through the left side of the infield to plate Avery Kontura with the first run. In the second inning, the bases were loaded as Kori Gargiulo was hit by a pitch to force home Emily Ehrmann before Emily Pietrzykowski scored on a wild pitch, 3-0. Smith got two runs back in the third inning to cut the lead to just one before Ramapo scored two in their half of the inning. Paley Sullivan hit a double off the top of the fence which allowed Notaro to score while Ehrmann singled home Sullivan with a seeing eye single to right-center field, 5-2. In the top of the fifth inning, Smith added one run before Ramapo tacked on six runs to take the game 11-3. The inning was highlighted by a single through the infield from Alex Hastings which drove in the final two runs of the game. Gargiulo and Kontura both scored to give Ramapo the eight run victory.
Ramapo collected 11 hits in the game including doubles from Hastings, Notaro and Sullivan. Gabby Morgan (3-0) earned the win in the circle in relief. She worked the final three innings of action as she struck out one, walked none and let up just two hits and one run scored. Mikayla McJilton started the game for the Roadrunners as she struck out two, walked one and let up just four hits and two runs in two innings of work.

Game #2: Ramapo 8, Meredith 0
The Roadrunners put up eight runs and held the Avenging Angels scoreless to earn their third shutout of the season. Hannah Hensler put Ramapo on the board with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning. Kontura scored as she worked a walk with two outs. In the second inning, Sullivan walked with one out before moving to second on a sac bunt from Emily Ehrmann. Lia Milsom drew a walk before Clay'le Correa-Vanness laced a single to center field allowing Sullivan to score, 3-0. In the top of the third, Hensler belted a double into the right-center field gap and later scored on a wild pitch, 4-0. Correa-Vanness made it 5-0 in favor of the Roadrunners in the top of the fourth inning as she scored on Gargiulo's RBI double to center field. Ramapo added three runs in the top of the fifth inning. Hensler singled to the left field line before being lifted for pinch runner Pietrzykowski. Hastings put down a sac bunt allowing Pietrzykowski to move to second before advancing to third on a wild pitch. Notaro earned the RBI single to the five-six hole as Pietrzykowski scored, 6-0. Sullivan connected on a double to center field which plated Notaro before Correa-Vanness plated Sullivan later in the inning with an RBI single, 8-0.

Brooke Knight spun a one-hitter for the Roadrunners in the circle. She worked a complete game shutout with three strikeouts and two walks. Ramapo tallied ten hits in the game while Correa-Vanness and Hensler each collected three hits each.

The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow afternoon when they take on Endicott College (12:30pm) and Ithaca College (2:45pm) at THE Spring Games.
