Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team earned their third shutout of the season with a 2-0 win over WestConn tonight at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners improve to 4-1-1 overall while the Wolves drop to 1-4-1 overall.
The Roadrunners got on the board in the first half in the 18th minute of action with a goal from
Lucas Mielnikiewicz. Mielnikiewicz tallied his first goal of the season as
Mason Leszczynski and
Dylan Biernacki each earned an assist. In the 61st minute of the second half,
Dominic Villalona hit the back of the net with his first career goal off a pass from
Luigi Portillo. The goal put the Roadrunners up 2-0 with just under 30 minutes left to play. The Ramapo defense and goalie
Zachary Natt would keep the Wolves off the board for their third shutout of the season.
WestConn posted 17 shots in the game including ten on goal along with five corner kicks. The Roadrunners tallied 12 shots in the 90-minute game with six on goal while they posted six corner kicks. Natt recorded ten saves in the win for Ramapo.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, Sept. 13th when they travel to Marywood University for a non-conference game scheduled for 3:00 PM.
