Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw against visiting Cairn University tonight at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners move to 2-1-1 overall while the Highlanders now stand at 0-1-2 overall.
Braden Allen scored his first goal of the season in the 19th minute (18:33) to put the Highlanders on the board first, 1-0. Ramapo would tie the game as
Dylan Biernacki connected on his second goal of the season with an unassisted goal in the 27th minute, 1-1. The score remained heading into halftime. In the 79th minute,
Gianfranco Ponce tallied his first goal of the season off an assist from
Leo Mandile to put Ramapo up 2-1 with just about ten minutes remaining. The Highlanders would tie the game back up in the 87th minute with a goal from Emanuel Lazor with an assist from Alijah Miller. The score would hold as the regular season game ended in a 2-2 tie.
Ramapo recorded 22 shots in the game including 12 on goal while the Highlanders tallied nine shots and three on goal. Ramapo also held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Axel Da Silva posted one save for the Roadrunners and Xander Jakeway tallied 10 for the Highlanders.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday, Sept. 11th when they host WestConn in non-conference action at 7:00 PM.
