Gettysburg, PA: In the opening round of the 2025 NCAA Gettysburg Regional hosted by Gettysburg College the #3 seeded Massachusetts Institute of Technology Engineers defeated the #2 seeded Ramapo College Roadrunners, 8-1. The Engineers (29-10 overall) advance to take on the host and #1 seeded Bullets tomorrow at 12pm. The Roadrunners (31-10) will take on John Jay College in an elimination game tomorrow at 2:30pm.
Ramapo loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the first inning before MIT recorded back-to-back outs to hold the Roadrunners scoreless. In the top of the second, nine hits including three doubles allowed MIT to open up an 8-0 lead. The Roadrunners got on the board in the third inning when
Alex Hastings drew a lead-off walk before moving to second on a sac bunt from
Kori Gargiulo. Following the first out,
Ysabellah Otero ripped a first pitch double to the left field fence allowing Hastings to come around to score. Otero advanced to third on a wild pitch before back-to-back walks with two outs once again loaded the bases for the Roadrunners. Following a pitching change from MIT, the Engineers induced a line out to shortstop to end the Roadrunner threat. In the top of the sixth, Delaney Benevides led off with a single before she was thrown out at second base by Ramapo catcher

Brooke Knight induced a line out and fly out to end the inning. In the bottom half of the inning Ramapo stranded two runners on one hit. Hensler once again helped Ramapo get out of a jam in the top of the seventh. With two outs and runners on first and second, Hensler picked off the runner at second as
Avery Kontura applied the tag for the third out of the inning. MIT would close out the game in the bottom half of the seventh as they held Ramapo scoreless for the win.
For MIT, Katie Katsuyama started in the circle and worked the first 2.2 innings with six walks, three strikeouts while she gave up just two hits and one run. Caroline Langmeyer (18-2) worked the final 4.1 innings as she let up two hits and struck out six while walking one. MIT collected 13 hits in the game as they were led by Mackenzie Bivin and Kennedy Adkison who each finished 3-4 with two RBI.
Marissa DiPaolo (14-6) started in the circle for the Roadrunners as she let up six runs on six hits in 1.1 innings of work.
Brooke Knight pitched the final 5.2 innings with three strikeouts, no walks while she surrendered seven hits and two runs. Four different Roadrunners recorded one hit in the game.
Ramapo will now take on John Jay in the first elimination game on Friday scheduled for 2:30pm. The winner advances to face the loser of the 12pm game in Gettysburg and MIT. The Roadrunners swept the Bloodhounds during the regular season at home on March 26th in a pair of run-rule games.Â
