Mahwah, NJ: The #3-seeded Ramapo College men's volleyball defeated #6-seeded Sarah Lawrence College tonight at the Bradley Center in the first round of the Skyline Men's Volleyball Tournament. The Roadrunners move to 19-9 overall while the Gryphons wrap up the season with a 13-14 overall record.
Ramapo hit .354 as a team with 40 kills on 79 attempts and 12 errors while the Gryphons hit .151 with 27 kills on 73 attempts and 16 errors. The Roadrunners had three players collect double-digit kills tonight as they were led by
Reece Kirchofer who put down 12 kills, two aces, four digs, and one solo block.
Jan Tracz recorded 10 kills as he hit .643 tonight on 14 attempts with just one error. He added two digs and one assisted block.
Brady Cascone recorded 10 kills, two aces, four digs, and one solo block.
Caleb Ford led the team with three solo blocks while he added five kills on nine attempts with no errors to hit .556 in the match. On defense,
Sean McNally led the way with six digs while he contributed with two assists.
JoJo Meyer dished out a team-high 34 assists in the match, he also added one kill, two assisted blocks, and two digs. Prior to the match, Meyer was awarded the Skyline Elite 19 Academic Award presented by Skyline Commissioner Melissa Reilly. The Elite 19 award is given to the top student-athlete with the highest GPA that is playing in each of the league's 19 conference championships.
Sarah Lawrence was led by Nate Davis who posted a match-high 19 kills while he also added four digs. Alex Xie recorded 19 assists, two kills, one solo block, and one dig while Lucas Buckley led the team on defense with six digs while adding two kills and one assist.
Ramapo advances to the Skyline Semifinal Match at #2 New Jersey City University on Thursday, April 10
th for a 7pm match.
