Mahwah, NJ: The #5 seeded Ramapo College men's volleyball team came back to win an ECAC Tournament First Round match in a thrilling five sets over #4 seeded Hunter College, (22-25, 21-25, 25-21, 25-17, 15-11). The Hawks wrap up the 2026 season with a 17-10 overall record.
The Roadrunners (12-11 overall) advanced to the semifinal of the ECAC Tournament on Friday, April 17th at #1 seeded Rutgers-Newark University. The match is set for 2:00pm at the Golden Dome. In the fifth set, Ramapo saw themselves up 3-1 with the help of back-to-back Hawks errors while
Joseph Duca put down an ace. The two teams traded kills before a block from Hunter gave them their third point of the set.
Caleb Ford and
Xavier Fabre each tallied a kill to give the Roadrunners a 6-3 lead. A kill from K-Ci Akwandoh and another kill from Fabre put Ramapo up 7-5 before Hunter got a kill from Ahmed Mohamed. A service error from the Hawk gave Ramapo their eighth point of the set for an 8-5 lead. A kill from
Jan Tracz and one from Hunter's Wyatt Kotuk saw Ramapo up 9-6 before the Hawks went on a three-point run to tie the set at nine. Following a Ramapo timeout the Roadrunners pushed their lead to 12-10. A kill from Mohamed gave the Hawks their final point of the set. The Roadrunners got a huge kill from
Justin Hidalgo and back-to-back aces from
Ryan Westrich to send Ramapo to the ECAC Semifinal Match with a 15-11 victory.
Ramapo hit .269 in the match as three Roadrunners tallied double digit kills. Tracz hit .378 with 20 kills while adding nine digs, three solo blocks and two assisted blocks.
Amari Menter recorded 12 kills with three digs and one ace while Hidalgo added ten kills, two aces, three digs and one block.
Joseph Duca led the team with 44 assists and ten digs while adding three kills and four aces.
Sebastian Rodriguez played the final three sets and posted five digs and three assists. Fabre tallied six kills and five solo blocks to lead the team while Ford posted five kills, two assisted blocks and one solo along with three digs.
For the Hawks, Mohamed led both teams with 32 total kills as he hit .407 on 59 attempts with just eight errors. Sebastian Gomez recorded nine kills, two solo blocks and one assisted block while Lenny Arbitman posted 24 assists to lead the team. Brandon Yeh dished out 20 assists while Bradley Campos tallied a team high seven digs.
