SOFTBALL GETS TWO WINS TO OPEN 2025 SEASON

Clermont, FL:  The Ramapo College softball team opened up the 2025 season with a pair of wins at THE Spring Games. The Roadrunners (2-0) earned wins over Hope College, 8-1, and Babson College, 3-1.
 
Game One
Neither team scored until the fourth inning when Hope got on the board with one run in the top of the fourth inning. Ramapo answered back with four runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth. Kori Gargiulo came around to score on a throwing error to tie the game before the Roadrunners took the lead on an RBI single from Rebecca Airel, 2-1. Clay'le Correa-Vanness drove in Airel with an RBI single before Katie Rygiel plated Correa-Vanness with a hard hit single through the right side, 4-1. In the fifth, Avery Kontura scored on a fielder's choice before Ysabellah Otero drove in two runs with a single of her own, 7-1. The final run of the game came in as Airel drove in pinch runner Emily Reilly with a single to left field, 8-1.
 
Ramapo starting pitcher Kassy Stefanski (1-0) scattered six hits over six complete innings while she faced one batter in the seventh. She struck out two and surrendered one run. Brooke Knight struck out one and did not let up a hit. Airel and Hensler each collected two hits while Otero and Hensler each posted two RBI.
 
Game Two
Ramapo took a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Rygiel worked a walk and later scored on a misplayed ball by Babson. In the second, the Roadrunners added two runs for a 3-0 lead. With two outs, Correa-Vanness beat out a bunt single and stole second base before Lia Milson also beat out a bunt single to put runners at the corners. Milsom stole second before each runner scored on a Babson error.  The Beavers scored one run in the bottom of the third inning as Sophia Pak came around to score an unearned run on a Ramapo throwing error.
 
Marissa DiPaolo (1-0) scattered five hits over six complete innings while she struck out one and walked none. Brooke Knight earned her first save of the season with two strikeouts including one to end the game. Lia Milsom led the Roadrunners at the plate finishing 2-3 with one run scored.
 
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow morning as they take on Eastern Connecticut State University at 11:30am and McDaniel College at 1:45pm. Both games are to be played at Sleepy Hallow Softball Complex.
